a reason to celebrate

so why is today so special? (other than the obvious fact that it's my dad's birthday!)


today is.... PERU DAY! on this day a million years ago, Peru became independent of the Spanish, and they've been celebrating ever since.

But my favorite part of the holiday is the fact that these people take not just one, but TWO days to celebrate. Don't ask me why, but yes, today AND tomorrow is Peru day and all of Peru will be having parties and parades and almuerzos and sleeping in for the next two days. Sounds pretty great huh? (not too great for a missionary though)

anyway, i wish we had the next two days off here in Dartmouth. We'd go to the beach, eat strawberries, ride our bikes, go camping...



but instead I'll just keep studying and wait for ryan to get home.
