Maine

Maybe it was my lack of homework or our absolutely FREE 2 night hotel stay, but our weekend trip to Maine was perfect.

Friday morning we packed up the car and headed out on the 3 hour drive to Portland. Ryan's work friend told him about a store on the way in the little town of Kittery, so we decided to drop by. We knew we were in for a treat when we saw EIGHT rows of RVs parked outside.

The kittery trading post. Rooms and rooms of guns, an entire section devoted to big furry hats, and stuffed moose practically everywhere. This place was huge. We could have spent hours here...if we were hunters...we had fun but we were in and out in about 15 minutes. At least we got a good laugh.

Next stop: Kennebunkport, ME. This place was more our style. A view of the ocean, cobblestone paths, little shops, and lots of Restaurants.

We opted for lunch at the Clam Shack and ordered our very first New England Lobster Roll. And I may have splurged on a $3.00 lemonade...

and it was totally worth it.

We loved it here. Maybe when we're rich we'll turn into the Bush's and start vacationing here every summer:)

Next stop: Portland

Once in Portland we explored a few fish markets, and then waited to get seated at the highly reccomended Flatbread Co., ate a delicious pizza, ran in the rain to the art museum, got bored at the art museum, ate blueberry shortcakes, shopped at the massive 24 hour L.L. Bean campus, and made it to the hotel by midnight.

and on saturday ryan found this lovely bakery for breakfast

just like the ones I remember from SLC

we ordered 4 pastries because we love pastries. Pain au chocolat, blueberry oatmeal scone, fruit buckle, and sticky morning bun. delicious.

Then we went blueberry picking.

There weren't as many berries left as I had hoped once we got there, but we picked more than plenty for the two of us.

After, we headed to Cape Elizabeth for a trip to the beach and some lunch.

We found the coolest place for lunch. Check out the view!

We had a few laughs trying to figure out how to pull this lobster apart (before we finished and realized the directions were under the lobster:)

In the evening we took a ferry to peaks island for dinner.

The friendly man on the boat next to us took this awful artistic picture of us with the sunset.

On sunday morning we headed to church in cape elizabeth and later shared a package of sushi at the lighthouse park

the lighthouse was absolutely beautiful. We packed as much fun as we could into that weekend and on our way home we stopped in Boston to eat dinner with Eric and Kate...thanks guys! A perfect perfect weekend.

Then on monday morning I cut my hair off. (These pictures drove me to it!) More pics coming up:)
