Celebrating one year.

To celebrate our anniversary we spent the day before in Providence. I had the day planned perfectly, and then we woke up to rain.

First, I had planned for us to go on a morning run across the harbor to our favorite bakery. But with the rain, we vetoed the run, but still made it to breakfast.

We love the Beach Plum Bakery and the rain was the perfect excuse to splurge on my favorite hot chocolate in the area...and I got to try their apple cinnamon "doughnut muffins". Delicious.

Then we made the drive to providence, and arrived at our first destination: The Bowling Academy. Ryan and I first met at a bowling alley 6 years ago, so even though we don't go bowling much now, I thought it'd be fun to go back.
This time we went duckpin bowling which is just the same as regular bowling, just mini balls and pins. The change in size was actually quite difficult for both of us but it leveled out the playing field (I'm usually horrible at bowling, and Ryan's really good) so it was more fun because we both kind of failed together.

After, we explored the Brown campus a little more. We met our first semester at the U and spent a lot of time together on campus, so it was fun to go back to a university and reminisce.

While on campus we stepped into the free Brown Botanical Conservatory (We had our wedding reception in a garden store

I was hoping to find a good Thai place for lunch (We went to Sawadee all the time in SLC) but honestly we haven't had good luck finding edible asian on this side of the country, so I found what looked like a yummy pizza place and called it good. and it was SOO good.

We ordered the spinach and mushroom and we were in heaven. The place is called Bob and Timmy's. The crust was grilled and so delightful and I am bringing EVERY SINGLE visitor here for the rest of my life.
Later we had a lot of outdoor plans, but instead dodged the rain and visited a few stores and museums - like the culinary museum, really cool.

Finally we went to dinner. I had planned for something romantic like this place, but we had burned through our budget keeping ourselves out of the rain, so we opted for something fun and casual.

The historic Haven Brothers food truck. It's famous but actually not that great. But we had fun.

Finally, because we got engaged at the Salt Lake Capitol Building (and the capitol building in Providence looks just like the one in Salt Lake) I was hoping the rain would let up and we could eat gelato on the steps. But the rain didn't let up, and we couldn't find gelato anywhere. Oh well, the ice cream we found was almost as good.

It was such a fun day. Even though almost nothing went as planned we enjoyed exploring the city together.
