My new sewing machine

My Christmas/Graduation/Birthday present is finally here:

I'm super excited. I took sewing lessons when I was a young girl from a lady in an apartment in downtown SLC but all I remember is being scolded over and over for breaking the needles. Anyway It's fun trying to relearn and for further motivation I rearranged my entire apartment so that I could sew in the living room.

The first thing I made with my new machine was a plastic bag organizer. I had no idea what I was doing. Long story short - it came out looking like a chewed-up dog toy. Next I made a maxi skirt.

I like it. Don't look too closely though. I was doing pretty well (with the help of my sweet mother on the line) until I got to the hem and realized I should have made it a higher priority to cut a straight line in the beginning. Oops. Then I cut and cut, then tried a few stitches that didn't work, unpicked a lot and then just said to myself, what the heck and sewed write through my preexisting stitches and voila! my maxi was finished! congrats to me!
